The Lockdown Loadout: Restricting Xbox Activities For Full Control

The Lockdown Loadout: Restricting Xbox Activities For Full Control

Navigating the myriad of privacy and security options for your Xboxes can be tricky. Luckily, we've developed what we call "Loadouts" to help simplify this process.

Today, we will be going over the “Lockdown Loadout”, which is the most restricting and limiting Loadout for patients. Though this Loadout limits the patient experience, it would be necessary to stop PHI and PII from being saved to the Xbox. We only recommend this Loadout to hospitals if they do not use Coplay XM to manage and remove PHI/PII from their Xboxes. This is due to the Loadout not allowing patients to have peer to peer interactions through gaming, which has been proven vital to child development. We feel one of the biggest opportunities a gaming program can provide is connecting patients with their peers, because hospitalization drastically reduces those types of interactions. To learn how Coplay XM can optimize your patient’s experience with your gaming program, check out our other Loadouts that use Coplay XM or feel free to reach out with any questions.

What The Lockdown Loadout Prevents

This Loadout will prevent patients from playing or communicating with anyone online. You can decide the ratings of content you want to allow patients to access while STOPPING patients from:

  • Adding their own Xbox accounts
  • Removing the hospitals from the Xbox
  • Changing settings
  • Purchasing games
  • Web surfing
  • Linking social media accounts
  • Resetting the Xbox
  • Playing Online
  • Sending messages
  • Voice Chatting
  • Adding Friends

This Loadout will also stop games and apps from accessing any microphones or cameras that patients plug into the Xbox

Lockdown Loadout Limitations

There are limits to what Xbox settings can do. One thing to note is no Loadout can stop patients from connecting to the internet to download and stream apps such as Youtube, Disney+, HULU, etc. To stop this, you will need to purchase “ethernet loopback plugs” to plug into the back of the Xbox. This will stop the Xbox from connecting to any Wi-Fi network or hotspot.

Note this Loadout isn't perfect for every hospital’s wants and needs, but we are happy to build you a custom Loadout so you no longer have to question what patients have access to on your gaming systems. If used right, gaming is an amazing way for patients to pass time during their stay and can provide engaging content for the whole family to play worry free.
